STRELA 3017

And this is the one that all started it! Looking for a vintage chronograph I accidentally bumped in on a Strela (=Arrow).

The watch was produced by the 1st Moscow Watch Factory with a caliber 3017 which was based upon the Venus 150/152. During the fifties the Soviet Union imported the Swiss knowledge and machines to their country in order to produce this caliber.

It is believed that the Soviet military demanded more precision in measuring time in the air.

These watches were official flight gear and objects of preference given to pilots and cosmonauts over a long period of time.

The watches referred to as the cyrillic "стрела" model, but later throughout the sixties and seventies they were labeled as Poljot and Sekonda. At the end of it's production run there were more than 100.000 pieces made of.
